A Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) evaluates whether a student’s previous coursework and/or relevant work experience meets the learning outcomes/competencies within a program at Coastal College of British Columbia (CCBC). CCBC recognizes that students may have acquired knowledge and skills through prior post-secondary education, or work experience. Students may receive advanced credit through the PLA process. Credits awarded through PLA may apply toward program completion/graduation requirements.

Procedure
The Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) process is applied consistently and fairly to all students. In accordance with the requirements of the British Columbia Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills, students may receive Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) credit for up to 50% of the total program.
The Prior Learning Assessment Form and the PLA-Work Experience- Practicum Form are attached.
